Los Angeles

Se siete abituati a visitare le città europee, dimenticate il vostro modo di essere turisti: questa megalopoli si affronta in maniera diversa: qua ci si sposta in autostrada per andare ovunque, anche in centro. Se non avete un'auto affittatela, usate le mappe stradali solo per trovare l'entrata in autostrada più vicina al vostro alloggio e l'uscita più vicina alla vostra meta. Le distanze da percorrere in città sono grandi: le tre pricipali arterie, Hollywood Boulevard, Sunset Boulevard e Santa Monica Boulevard, sono lunghe circa 35 Km l'una. Gli hotel sono generalmente poco cari. Io sono stato al Claremont a Westwood Village nei pressi della UCLA:

comodo per la vicinanaza a Hollywood e al Santa Monica Boulevard che porta diretto al mare.
Non fermatevi solo alla città di LA perchè potreste rimanerne delusi, ma vedete anche Santa Monica, Malibù, Venice Beach, Long Beach se potete.
If you are used to visit european cities, forget your way to be a tourist: this metroplois has to be dealed in another way: here always move via motorway to go everywhere, including downtown. If you no not have a car, rent it, use the roadmap only to find the motorway entrance to your hotel and the motorway exit nearest to your destination.
Distances are generally large: three main roads, Hollywood Boulevard, Sunset Boulevard e Santa Monica Boulevard, are about 35 Km long each. Hotels are generally not expensive. I have been at Claremont at Westwood Village, close to the UCLA:http://www.claremonthotel.net/

Don't see LA only becaise you could be disappionted, but see also Santa Monica, Malibù, Venice Beach, Long Beach if you can.

San Francisco

Una meravigliosa città europea affacciata sull'Oceano Pacifico. Potete pensare di girarla all'europea, ovvero usando i piedi e i mezzi pubblici quando serve. Non pensate all'europea invece sul fatto che il mare mitiga il clima: anche in estate è una città molto più fredda di quanto vi possiate aspettare.
Per alloggiare non consiglio un posto preciso, ma uno dei moltissimi motel che ci sono in Lombard street, la stessa che termina con lo zigzag più famoso del mondo. Nella parte alta di questa strada trovate tutte le più famose catene di motel americani a prezzi concorrenziali.
A wonderful european city overlooking the Pacific Ocean. You can think to get around at the european way, using feet and public transport as needed. Don't think european on the fact that sea mitigates the climate: even in summer it's a very coldest city then you can expect.
I do not suggest a specific place to stay, just one of many motels in Lombard Street, the same road terminating with the world's famousest zigzaz. In the higher part of this street you can find all the famousest motel chains at competitive prices.
